JOIN IN:  National Youth Summit Webinar

For the FIRST TIME ever, the Special Olympics National Youth Summit (NYS) is planning a "WEBINAR,” a FREE hour long real-time web cast live from Ames, Iowa. It  would be great if you could join in.  We will be using a technology called BREEZE. You'll need a high speed connection to the Internet and a separate phone line so you can talk with us at the same time we are all on the computer.

The National Youth Summit will be a gathering of young people aged 12-17 from around the U.S.  They will be participating as part of the 2006 Special Olympics USA National Games (http://www.2006nationalgames.org/).  They are interested in sharing and exchanging information about understanding, respect, changing attitudes, and volunteering.

You are invited to join in as a classroom or group activity at a school, camp, club event, or other creative way.  Here are some reasons to join in:

1.  These 12 young people with and without disability from around the U.S. will be showing people how Special Olympics can "COMPETE-EMPOWER-UNITE" (our National Games theme) through leading by example.

2.  This will be an opportunity for you to share your ideas with Special Olympics about ways to reverse stereotypical attitudes toward people with disabilities.

3.  The NYS will be reporting on the athletes who are competing at the 2006 Special Olympics USA National Games and transmitting these stories back to their schools and communities electronically.

4.  This is an opportunity for you to discuss ways that organizers of Special Olympics can better meet the needs of today’s athletes, volunteers, coaches, and family members.

When will the Webinars take place?  Glad you asked...
